I’m sure there are many hopes for the New Year. We hope for an ethical effective vaccine to deal with Covid-19, perhaps you hope to be able to do some of those things that you couldn’t do last year, get married, celebrate a birthday, go on a plane, see loved ones you haven’t seen for a long time. 2020 has certainly been a tough year and the truth is we don’t know what 2021 will bring, but Christmas has reminded us that our hope is not in an injection but in a person! And his effectiveness is 100% for all who receive him (John 1:12) and he has no bad side effects! Will you make it your aim in 2021 to get to know him better? How can you do that? The start of a New Year is always a good time to start a new habit, if you’re not yet in the habit of regular Bible reading, please join us in our Bible reading plan. You can ask Nick for a paper copy of the plan or find it on our website here.
Maybe you’ve tried before and thought you didn’t get anything from it, listen to these wise words from Bishop J C Ryle: “Do not think you are getting no good from the Bible, merely because you do not see that good day by day. The greatest effects are often silent, quiet, and hard to detect at the time they are being produced. Think of the influence of the moon upon the earth, and of the air upon the human lungs. Remember how silently the dew falls, and how unperceptively the grass grows. There may be far more going on than you think in your soul by your Bible-reading.”
Our Bible reading plan will take us through the whole Bible in two years, why not join us?
Here’s the first month’s readings in case you have any trouble with the link:
