write to TD.jpg

Yesterday in church online I suggested that we write to our TD’s to ask them to try and get our churches open again, here’s the contact details for our local TD’s and then below you will see an idea of what you could write:

Brendan Smith, Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Brendan.smith@oireachtas.ie

Niamh Smyth, Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan niamh.smyth@oireachtas.ie

Heather Humphreys, Fine Gael TD for Cavan-Monaghan heather.humphreys@oireachtas.ie

Matt Carthy, Sinn Féin TD for Cavan-Monaghan matt.carthy@oireachtas.ie

Pauline Tully,Sinn Féin TD for Cavan-Monaghan pauline.tully@oireachtas.ie

Dear ______________________,

Thank-you for all your hard work in this difficult time. I appreciate the careful planning and diligence shown by the government in handling the crisis presented by Covid-19. I have been praying for you and the various agencies of the State, and will continue to do so.

I am writing to ask you to do all that you can to see that churches are able to reopen again soon.  Churches have complied very well with Covid regulations and I feel safer going to church than I do going to the shops.  When we were able to meet we had hand sanitiser, face masks and social distancing in place.

Many countries across Europe have kept their churches open in this third wave and whilst it doesn’t seem to have led to the spread of the virus it must have helped with people’s emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.

Given how seriously churches have taken their responsibilities in the midst of this pandemic, please can you request that churches be given the freedom to gather in person again?

Yours sincerely,
