A prayer for the family and friends of Tommy Feeney and for the safety of farmers

Heavenly Father, this week’s devastating loss has reminded us of the dangers of farming. We pray for Niamh, Aoife and Maria as they grieve the loss of their husband and daddy.  For John and Noreen as they grieve the loss of a son and for the wider circle of family and friends of Tommy Feeney.

Lord Jesus Christ, you wept at Lazarus’ tomb, you understand our grief. Please draw near to those who are grieving.   Help them to see you through their tears, to find hope that through your resurrection you have defeated death and to know your peace that passes understanding. Please provide them with all the loving support that they need at this time so that they will have strength to meet the days to come.  Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

A prayer for all farmers

Heavenly Father, as we acknowledge our dependence on your bounty for our daily bread, so we also seek your blessing on those engaged in farming.  Please keep them safe and please will you prosper their work that the earth may yield it full harvest and the needs of all people may be supplied.  Please especially help the farmers to endure through the wet weather and as the weather turns colder and darker.  Please may they know that you are always with them and may they know Jesus Christ as the light of the world. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
