Loving Lord, this week many in our community are grieving the tragic sudden loss of Cillian Boyle. Please comfort his heartbroken family, his father Michéal, his mother Maria, his sisters Katie and Ciara, and his brother Darragh, and all his wider family and friends. Thank-you that you are near to the broken hearted. Please draw near to this poor family in their shock, grief, anger and despair.
Today, they buried a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a friend. Help them as they look up from today and everything is blurred by tears and darkness. Lord Jesus, you are the light of the world, and you stepped into our darkness to bring us into the light. Please give light and hope to this dear family as they struggle with grief, sadness and hopelessness. May they not be overcome by their grief but find hope in the Lord Jesus who is the resurrection and the life.
Lord, it looked like Cillian has everything going for him, and it is so sad and so we pray for all young people in our local area. Please help them to look to you and find hope in you that gives them purpose and meaning and drives out all hopelessness. Please help them to talk to, and may we all be available to talk and help those who need to talk. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
