Prayer for the family of Abby McDowell

Loving Lord, we are so sorry to learn of the death of Abby McDowell. Death is always so painful, but when it’s a child we feel like we’ve been robbed. For a parent to lose a child, for siblings to lose their sister at such a young age, and for friends to lose a school age friend just seems so wrong. We weep with them in their loss.

Lord Jesus, you were there at the funeral of the widow’s son from Nain, he was her only son, and you made a beeline for her in her suffering. You had compassion on her. Please look with compassion on the McDowell family, please be especially with Nigel and Audrey, Damien and Jamie, and the wider family and friends and help them in their suffering. Please be with all at the Royal School as they share in this loss.  

You know their broken hearts and shattered dreams and the days and nights of deep sorrow that are ahead. God of all comfort, please give them your peace that passes understanding, and lead them to the rock that is higher than them, that they may find a secure place to grieve.  May they find hope in the Lord Jesus who is the resurrection and the life. May your Holy Spirit be their comforter. May the memories of Abby’s life stay in their hearts as holy blessings. Please bless them with the tenderest blessings of Your love and help through the days ahead.
