Just waiting for the wheelchair to get on…

“We’re just waiting for the wheelchair to get on.” I’m sure the bus driver didn’t mean anything by it, but it upset William, he is a boy and not a wheelchair!

I tried explaining that the bus driver didn’t know William’s name, but he could have said the boy. Or as William suggested the boy with the red cap! It’s a reminder to be careful with what we say and that a wheelchair doesn’t define someone.

How precious to remind William how God describes him – fearfully and wonderfully made, that God knows him by name and loves him so much that he gave his son for him. That’s an identity to be secure in.
