What has Daithí been doing and an opportunity?

What has Daithí been doing?

I’ve been working with Rev. Nick in the Drung Group of Churches since September 2019. I also have been taking a part-time preaching class through the Cornhill Training Course in Belfast. So a  typical week has me studying with Cornhill for two days, with the remainder of the days in the parish.

Over these two years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve Christ and share His good news in about as wide a range of ways that you could imagine with people of all ages. I’ve helped run a Christian Union in a local school, taught religion classes in another school, led assemblies in our local National School, helped lead our teens fellowship group, led Bible studies, kept up with parishioners, led sung worship, led services and preached on Sundays. It’s been an encouragement to see the Lord at work in these different areas — even during a pandemic!

My time here has been a big challenge too and I’ve certainly been kept on my toes. But I’ve learnt a great deal about what parish ministry is really like and it’s been a blessing to get to know people in my parishes as much as I could in these two short years. This experience has really helped me discern the right steps for the future and I’m sure I’ll be holding on to many lessons learned during this time as I continue on towards pastoral ministry in the long term.

One point the Lord keeps leading me back to is his sovereign care. Psalm 3 says, “I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.” Many times in this ministry, I’ve been confronted with my weaknesses. But he is sovereign over my life, the life of his church, over pandemics, over all things and over all his world. We have a wonderful, faithful and caring heavenly Father, and I’m so thankful to him for my time working with the Drung Group.

An Opportunity

We’ve loved Daithí being here, but sadly he will finish his time with us in August. If you would be interested in serving as a Ministry Trainee this September please don’t hesitate to get in contact for more information.

Daithì has been a great addition to our parishes and has enhanced worship with his musical abilities and sharing his faith I,m sure Drung has been quite a learning curve but you adjusted really well and seemed to fit right in good luck to you in your further studies .
